Advent calender
Turn laser-cut design into an advent calender.
I created an advent calendar as a gift for a friend. The only requirement was that it should contain small chocolate pieces, while the design of the calendar itself was completely up to me. I had wanted to try laser cutting for a long time, so this felt like the perfect opportunity to do so.
I started by designing the calendar in Fusion 360. After some research, I decided that the calendar should take the shape of a tree with a star on top. The star is represented by an electric candle, placed on a small platform between the two wooden panels. Star-shaped cutouts were added to the panels to create a decorative pattern and let light through.

Next, I began the production process, starting with the drawers that hold the chocolate, followed by the main wooden frame that forms the tree structure.

The tree was assembled using screws with spacers, which hold the two wooden panels apart.

Finally, everything was put together. I added a cotton string between the spacers to prevent visibility into the drawers. This detail also enhances the tree-like appearance and adds a soft, decorative finish to the overall design.
